The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office has released the identity of the woman who died last month after a mobile home caught fire, leaving her trapped inside, in Box Canyon, California. On Tuesday, June 2, she was identified as Jill Enriquez, 63, of Simi Valley, as stated in the accident reports.
The Ventura Fire Department and the sheriff’s office deployed officials to the scene on reports of a burning mobile home on Canyon Box Road and Santa Susana Pass Road. The reports came in at about 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27.
When the response crews arrived, they discovered the mobile home engulfed in fire. The flames at the time had also spread to the surrounding brushes. Fire Department personnel reported that the fire covered about a half-acre before they successfully contained it. The Los Angeles Fire Department also responded at the scene and assisted with controlling the inferno.
When firefighters entered the mobile home for assessment, they found the charred body of Enriquez lying unconscious. Officials stated in the accident reports that she was confirmed dead at the scene.
The Ventura County Fire Department ordered a post-mortem investigation on the fatal victim, to determine her cause of death, and the manner in which she died. The results are pending; they will be made available as soon as there is an update.
