Coroner IDs Jesus Mauris as Deceased Victim of Santa Fe Springs Accident

Hannah Underwood

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in a car crash in the Santa Fe Springs area of California. On Saturday, June 13th, Capt. John Kades of the LACCO disclosed the victim’s name as Jesus Mauris, 36, a Montebello resident.

The victim passed away early Saturday, at about 2 a.m. on San Gabriel River (605) Freeway. The car accident report disclosed that Mauris was heading north on the freeway, precisely on Telegraph Road. The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert after the incident, shutting down the northbound lanes.

The shut down extended to Telegraph’s on-ramp, the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway transition to the southbound 605. The CHP reopened the lanes after collecting evidence and clearing debris. There is no additional information.

Road traffic accidents also called motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurs when a vehicle collides with another car, pedestrian, animal, road debris, or any stationary obstruction like tree, pole, or building. Traffic collisions often result in injury, disability, death, and property damage, as well as the financial costs to both society and individuals involved.

Several factors contribute to collisions, including vehicle design, speed of operation, road design, road environment, motorist experience, and impairment due to alcohol or drugs. Others are recklessness, distracted driving, wrong-way driving, and street racing.

Accidents claim lives daily, and the best preventive measure is exercising care and caution when on the roadway. If an accident occurs, call 911 to get help, make an accident report with the authorities, and assist those with injuries.
