A late-night crash on Monday, June 15th, in San Jose, California, left a woman dead and a man in police custody on felony charges. 33-year-old Svyatoslav Solovyev, of Cupertino, would need a drunk driving attorney’s expertise to represent his interest.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the suspect is responsible for the accident that took place on the southbound State 85 around 11:36 p.m. south of Union Avenue. A preliminary investigation uncovered that Solovyev was driving a 2020 BMW M8 south at high speed.

The man failed to slow down and made an unsafe turn that sent him into the path of a 2006 Subaru. The two vehicles collided, and the BMW went on to careen into a 2016 Hyundai Accent that pushed into a 2007 Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Hyundai identified as a 61-year-old woman from Hollister sustained severe wounds, and the medics rushed her to Valley Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. No other driver or passenger sustained wounds in the accident.

The CHP determined that Solovyev was under the influence and arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. The accident remains under investigation, and anyone with relevant information should contact the San Jose CHP Office.

A DUI and vehicular manslaughter are severe offenses in California. Offenders whom the court finds guilty of drinking and driving and committing harm in the process face time in jail, a fine, suspension of driving privileges, and a compulsory rehabilitation program.
