The services of a car injury lawyer would be useful after a woman ended up severely injured in a head-on collision in Lewiston, California. An updated accident report provided by the California Highway Patrol on Wednesday, June 17, disclosed the victim’s name as Rosemarie Cantero, a 34-year-old resident of Junction City.
The incident took place at about 4:41 p.m. on Friday, June 12, on Highway 299. CHP officials reported that it happened a few miles east of Trinity Dam Boulevard, and sent three people to a hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to major.
Initial reports showed that Cantero was driving a 2011 Acura MDX on the westbound lanes of Hwy. 299 at an unsafe speed. The motorist approached a curve on the roadway and failed to negotiate it properly. As a result, the Acura veered into the eastbound lanes of travel and struck an oncoming 2000 Ford F-350 head-on.
Emergency crews arrived a few minutes later and found Cantero pinned inside her vehicle, with her one-year-old child restrained in the rear passenger seat. Firefighters rescued the woman from the wreckage. A Trinity County Life Support Ambulance conveyed Cantero to Mercy Medical Center with severe injuries. They removed the minor from the child safety seat unharmed.
James Dean, 55, who was behind the wheels of the Ford, and his sole passenger, Jess Ortega, suffered moderate injuries. An ambulance transported the two White City men to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. They were both wearing seatbelts when the crash happened.
The CHP reports suggested that it was raining at the time, and Cantero’s speed may have been unsafe for the wet roads. No other detail is available at this time.
Victims injured in traffic wrecks should endeavor to contact a car injury lawyer to enable them to secure maximum compensation for damages by filing a personal injury lawsuit.
