CHP Arrest and Charge Jesus Olivera for Road-Rage Crash on Highway 101

36-year-old Jesus Hernandez Olivera of San Leandro would need the expertise of auto accident attorneys following his arrest for a road-rage accident on Highway 101 in the Healdsburg area of California. The California Highway patrol took the man into custody on Sunday, June 21st.

The authorities believe that the suspect was intoxicated at the time of the accident and charged him with driving under the influence of drugs. He is also facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run.

According to the CHP, witnesses placed Olivera behind the wheel of a black and green Ford truck driving recklessly on the highway at 100 miles per hour. The car cut off other vehicles heading north, and things escalated when the suspect began tailgating while trying to crash into a Dodge truck.

Officer David DeRutte said the driver of the second vehicle tried to lose Olivera by exiting the highway at Canyon Road, but the man followed, increasing his tailgating. The Dodge driver returned to the highway, and pulled into the center median, hoping the suspect would drive by.

The man drove by, but rather than continuing, he turned the Ford around and drove towards the other car, causing a head-on collision. The occupants of the vehicle were uninjured in the crash, and Olivera tried to flee the scene by flagging down passing motorists.

The man was sweating profusely, shouting, and acting erratically, and the CHP arrested him when they arrived at the scene. There is no additional information.
