A teenager from Valencia, California was killed in a crash on Interstate 405 on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner-Medical Examiner’s Office, he is 17-year-old Michael Lodl.

He was on foot at the time the accident occurred, and Lt. Kelly Yagerlener of the Coroner’s Office said his death was due to multiple blunt force injuries.

Multiple eyewitnesses called the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles County Communication Center to report the accident that occurred near Victory Boulevard in Van Nuys around 3:44 p.m.

So said a CHP news release that followed the incident.

The report said Lodl succumbed to his injuries on the arrival of emergency personnel.

CHP said investigations suggested that the teen parked his vehicle on the right shoulder of I-405 southbound, got out, and ran into traffic.

The second, third, and fourth lanes were closed for five hours as officers completed their on-scene investigations.

No information was immediately available about the vehicle or the driver involved in the incident.
