Auto-pedestrian accidents in California are not uncommon, and pedestrians must think two steps ahead of drivers to maintain their safety. According to the state’s Office of Traffic Safety, the problem of cars hitting pedestrians is increasing with more people choosing to walk to different destinations and as a form of exercise.
Thus, drivers and pedestrians must work together to demonstrate safe road behaviors, and they can achieve this by following safety tips. Some of the latter include using a flashlight when walking at night, and wearing bright colors, using designated crosswalks and sidewalks, yielding at intersections, maintaining the speed limit, and stopping at crosswalks to allow people cross.
