On Tuesday afternoon, July 21st, the California Highway Patrol, San Luis Obispo Division revealed the name of the man who passed away in a motorcycle collision near Arroyo Grande, California. They identified James Lamon, 31, of Santa Maria as the victim.
The crash that claimed the man’s life happened on Friday, July 17th, at about 3:40 p.m. The investigators said that Lamon rode his motorcycle westbound on Los Berros Road, east of Century Lane, at an unknown speed.
At the same time, a 2002 Ford was heading east on the same roadway, at an undetermined speed. The victim failed to correctly negotiate a right-hand curve on the road, causing him to enter the eastbound lane, directly in the path of the Ford. The two vehicles collided, and the impact landed Lamon on the roadway.
The investigators said that the man sustained fatal wounds, and medics pronounced him dead at the scene. So far, they have not determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information should contact the SLO CHP office on the listed line.
Auto-motorcycle accidents are caused by several factors that are either the fault of the motorcyclist, that of the driver, or intervening circumstances. Some of the common causes are speeding, impairment of drugs or (and) alcohol, running a red light, or distracted driving. Drivers and motorcyclists should mitigate these factors by obeying traffic rules and regulations and putting safety first.
