CHP Releases Details of Fairfield Collision that Injured Joevale Rainbolt

A press release by the California Highway Patrol on Monday, July 27th, disclosed the details of the vehicle collsion that killed a 27-year-old Yuba City female driver and severely injured her passenger, Joevale L. Rainbolt, 41, of Oakland. The crash occurred on Sunday, July 26th, in the Fairfield area of California.

The car accident report showed that the incident happened around 1:50 p.m. east of American Canyon Road. The CHP said that the driver lost control of her Toyota Avalon along the eastbound Interstate 80 at McGary Road. She changed from the slow lane across all four lanes, veered back, and collided with an embankment.

The vehicle rolled on impact and came to rest on McGary Road. The driver sustained extensive injuries, and the medics took her to Northbay Medical Center in Fairfield, where she passed away. Rainbolt received treatment at the same hospital.

The CHP stated that as of Monday afternoon, they had not determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the occurrence. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information should contact the Solano Area Office of the highway patrol on the listed line.

Motor vehicle accidents are one of the leading causes of death in California and the United States. Often, a driver’s negligent behavior contributes to crashes, and at other times, external influences beyond a person’s control also cause collisions. They are preventable if drivers prioritize safety, obey traffic rules and regulations, and adequately maintain their vehicles.
