CHP Arrest Marco Gonzalez and Albert Blanco for DUI Crash in Santa Cruz County

Two men arrested by the California Highway Patrol on Thursday morning, July 30th, would need the services of auto accident attorneys. Officers took Marco Ochoa Gonzalez, 25, of Manteca, and Albert J. Blanco, 38, of San Jose, into custody after running away from the scene of a car crash in Santa Cruz County, California.

In a press release, the CHP said that Gonzalez is facing charges of suspicion of having a stolen car, hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest. They charged Blanco with possessing a stolen car and resisting arrest.

The crash report placed Gonzalez behind the wheel of an Infiniti northbound on Highway 17 at about 5 a.m. Officers said that the suspect made an unsafe and illegal U-turn at Vine Hill Road because he was intoxicated. He then struck a southbound Hyundai driven by a 49-year-old Watsonville man.

When the CHP arrived at the scene, they found the driver and Blanco running into the nearby woods. A resident spotted the two hiding and contacted the investigators, who came and placed them under arrest. The officers said a 30-year-old Boulder Creek woman in the crashed car sustained injuries and received treatment in a hospital.

The investigators did not release any information on the driver of the Infiniti. The investigation is ongoing. Crashes of this nature are preventable if drivers avoid drinking and driving and practice safe road behaviors.
