On Saturday night, August 29th, an 11-month-old infant suffered an injury in a solo car crash in Paradise, California. The Paradise Police Department said that Brittany Mundy, 29, a city resident was driving the vehicle involved.
The car accident report placed the time of the occurrence around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Clark Road and Round Valley Ranch Road. The police said that Mundy, who traveled with her newborn, approached the Paradise intersection when she went off the roadway and struck a tree.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle fully engulfed in fire. Firefighters said that the suspect was able to free herself and the child before the fire started.
Paramedics transported mother and child to a hospital to treat unspecified wounds, and there’s no update on the infant’s condition at this time. Officers determined that Mundy was under the influence of illegal drugs and non-prescription narcotics at the time of the incident.
They placed the woman under arrest on DUI charges and felony child endangerment, and she would need representation from a car injury lawyer. There is no additional information.
Driving under the influence of drugs or (and) alcohol is a severe offense in California, and the justice system frowns at offenders. To convict a person of a DUI offense, the courts would have to be satisfied that the person operated a vehicle while impaired and committed an illegal act while in that state.
