The 16-year-old girl who sustained severe injuries from a head-on collision on Highway 180 in Fresno County, California, has died two weeks after the occurrence. Updates to the car accident report identified the victim as Stephanie Faz of Sanger, and disclosed that she died on Thursday, September 3rd, while undergoing treatment.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Wednesday afternoon, August 19th. Stephanie operated a Chevy SUV that collided with a big rig. She was eastbound on H-180 when the westbound rig crossed into her lane.
The investigators said that the bigger vehicle driver was attempting to cross a slow-moving vehicle at about 1:40 p.m at the intersection of H-180 and Chateau Fresno Avenue. The collision left Stephanie in critical condition, and medics conveyed her to Community Regional Center, where she remained until her demise.
The CHP said that the victim’s father, Joe Faz, traveled in the SUV as a passenger, and he died at the crash site. The big rig driver did not appear to have suffered injuries; the motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol or drugs are not considered factors in the occurrence.
