Anthony Buscemi Identified as the Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Concord Fatal Accident

Updates made to an accident report on Thursday, September 10th, revealed the identity of the hit-and-run involved in a fatal accident in Concord, California. 26-year-old Anthony Buscemi was allegedly under the influence when he struck and killed 35-year-old Shelly Stevens of Lafayette.

The incident took place on Saturday, September 5th. The preliminary investigation showed that it occurred near Marsh Drive and Solano Way in the unincorporated area north of Buchanan Field.

The California Highway Patrol and the Contra Costa Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the crash site around 1 a.m. and found Stevens’ body on the roadway. Buscemi was nowhere in sight, but the investigators soon located the suspect vehicle nearby.

On Tuesday, September 8th, the man turned himself in, and officers positively linked him to the accident. They classified the occurrence as vehicular manslaughter and charged Buscemi with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and DUI causing injury. He would need the expertise of auto accident attorneys.

The police booked him into the Martinez County Jail on a $300,000 bail bond. The investigation into the occurrence remains active, and anyone with relevant information should contact the Investigative Division of the sheriff’s office or dispatch on the listed lines.

A criminal charge of gross vehicular manslaughter is a severe offense under California law. Offenders face between four to ten years imprisonment and additional fines as determined by the court.

Drivers can prevent the above by driving without impairment and keeping their blood alcohol level below .08%. Additionally, stop after an accident, and report it to the relevant authorities.
