The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday, February 19th, identified the man who died in the single-vehicle crash in Pomona, California. He is 23-year-old Anthony Tucker Jr.
Tucker died at the scene of the crash, and the autopsy report showed that he succumbed to the injuries he sustained from the accident. The coroner did not carry out a toxicology test as the police are still investigating the identity of the driver.
The car the deceased was travelling in had three passengers, which led to the police’s confusion on who the driver was. According to the Pomona Police Department, the accident which happened on Tuesday, February 18th, had Tucker trapped inside the car with one other person.
The third passenger ejected from the car when it struck a tree in the 2000-block of North Garey Avenue. The vehicle was going at top speed when it hit a concrete divider and rolled over.
It took the combined effort of first responders to get Tucker and the other passenger out of the car. The deceased was already unresponsive, and the other two people suffered severe injuries.
The two are receiving treatment in a hospital, and are still alive at the time of this report. The PPD is still investigating the cause of the crash, and have asked witnesses to come forward.
Driving over the speed limit is one of the common causes of accidents in California. Drivers should always drive within the prescribed speed limit to avoid accidents, and always wear seat belts to prevent ejection from the car.
