Alamo community of Contra Costa County, California, on Saturday morning, recorded a fatal accident along Interstate 680, near Stone Valley Road. The tragic incident took place at about 6 am on Saturday, March 7.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the victim, a 64-year-old resident of Brentwood, was travelling along the south traffic lane when he encountered the scene of a minor crash which occurred earlier on I-680. He attempted to divert his Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer to avoid the obstructing vehicle.
In his attempt to manoeuvre his way past the crash, the operator of the truck collided with the concrete center divider of the Highway, just south of Stone Valley Road exit, Alamo.
The forceful collision threw the vehicle operator off the big rig, causing him to suffer fatal injuries. Emergency responders arrived at the scene of the fatality shortly after and confirmed the 64-year-old motorist dead as revealed by CHP troopers.
The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased driver as Anthony Wilson from Brentwood, California.
Authorities confirmed that none of the victims of the earlier accident suffered injuries from the crash. Also, Anthony Wilson was reportedly the only occupant of the Freightliner big rig.
No further information was revealed about the earlier accident or the involved parties.
Investigations into the fatal incident are still in the works. The California Highway Patrol has requested anyone with helpful information to further the investigative procedure to contact the CHP Contra Costa area office.
