The male passenger killed in a car crash in the Lancaster area of California has been identified. Updates made to the car accident report on Monday, August 10th, revealed the victim’s name as Arturo Rosales, a 36-year-old resident of the city.
The initial report showed that the man died at about 4 a.m. on Saturday, August 8th, at West Avenue E and 30th Street West. The California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that Rosales traveled in a car driven by 33-year-old Jamie Levy of Lancaster.
The motorist was eastbound on Avenue E in a 2014 Scion TC, approaching 30th Street at an undetermined speed. Levy failed to stop for a posted stop sign at the intersection of the two streets, causing the vehicle to go off the road and strike a dirt berm.
The woman sustained moderate wounds, and medics took her to an area hospital for treatment. The CHP said that officers determined that Levy was under the influence when the crash happened, and arrested her on suspicion of DUI, with bail set at $100 000.
Driving under the influence is one the most common traffic and criminal offenses that prosecutors charge when an accident happens. For the court to convict a person of the charge, it must be convinced that he or she operated a motor vehicle while impaired, and while in that state, committed an illegal act or failed to carry out legal action.
