Authorities Reveal Cecilia Roan as One of the Injured Students in Redding School Bus Crash

One of the victims of a traffic accident which occurred in Redding, California, last week Wednesday, after a school bus jumped the stop sign, has been identified by the police as 16-year-old Cecilia Roan. Authorities of the Redding Police Department disclosed the injured student’s identity on Sunday, March 15.

The tragic occurrence took place in the morning of Wednesday, March 11, at the interchange of Bechelli Lane and Bonnieview Road in the Northern Californian City.

According to police reports, the 16-year-old high school student was in a bus, along with twelve other students and the 61-year-old bus driver, on their way to Enterprise High School’s agricultural program facility prior to the traffic collision.

The school bus was westbound on South Bonnyview Road when it approached the traffic light signalling stop, at the intersection of Bechelli Lane and Bonnieview Road. The driver, identified as Thomas Kirshman, failed to yield to the stop sign, causing him to collide with two cars approaching from the opposite lane.

Two of the students were confirmed to have sustained severe injuries in the crash, including Cecilia Roan. However, the status of the other occupants of the bus was not disclosed.

The driver of one of the involved vehicles also sustained injuries and was treated on the scene by paramedics.

The two injured students were transferred to a medical facility for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash. The almost fatal incident remains under investigation.
