At the same time, a 2010 Kenworth semi-truck, driven by 29-year-old Benjamin Boyso was westbound on Highway 156 and traveling towards the road intersection at an estimated speed of 55 miles per hour.
Upon reaching the intersection, the driver of the truck failed to observe the stoplight, making an illegal entry into the intersection. As a result, the motorist collided with the cyclist, who had the right of way at the time.
The motorcycle rider, whose name was withheld, died in the tragic collision, from the severe injuries sustained. The reports did not indicate whether Boyso was arrested for causing the death of the 49-year-old cyclist.
An investigation into the fatal crash is underway.
