Bernardo Barragan, Salvador Aguilera Killed In 2-Vehicle Wreck Sunday In Santa Rosa


The two men killed in a crash Sunday morning in Sonoma County have been identified by local authorities.

Forty-five-year-old Bernardo Barragan, of Pittsburg, and 40-year-old Salvador Aguilera, of Santa Rosa, died as a result of injuries sustained in the wreck, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. Three other people suffered injuries in the crash as well, car accident reports state.

Authorities said a vehicle was heading north on Stony Point Road just after midnight Sunday. The vehicle collided with another at the intersection with Lazzini Avenue, according to car accident reports.

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as Aguilera, and his passenger, identified as Barragan, suffered serious injuries. Both ultimately were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, authorities said.

Car accident reports do not list the identities of the occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash. However, authorities noted that two men and a woman who were riding in the vehicle were hospitalized for injuries that aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Updated condition reports weren’t available Tuesday evening.

The intersection was closed for several hours as authorities worked at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department, which has not said whether contributing factors like intoxication or speeding are thought to have contributed.

Authorities have not announced any charges or citations in connection to the crash.
