On Friday, September 18th, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed in a traffic accident in Lancaster, California. In updates made to the accident report, the coroner named Cedric Jackson, 36, as the fatal victim.
The auto-motorcycle accident happened around 11 p.m. on Thursday, September 17th, near the intersection of Avenue 1 and Elm Avenue. The coroner’s office and the Los Angeles County Fire Department did not release the details of the events leading to the collision.
There is also no information on the driver of the vehicle involved or an arrest. The investigation remains active.
Auto-motorcycle collisions are not uncommon on California roadways, with over 800,000 registered motorcycle riders. To obtain a motorcycle license, the Cal-Department of Motor Vehicles stipulates that individuals undergo the Basic Riders Course (BRC) designed by the California Highway Patrol.
The program consists of a 15-hour classroom and on-cycle course, and it is compulsory for those under the age of 21. The BRC is also recommended to those above 21 who want to obtain a license for the first time.
After completing the course, the individual will get a Certificate of Completion of Motorcycle Training. When riding, keep in mind that the motorcycle is not just for recreation, and operate it with care and caution.
Wear the right gear, consisting of a safety helmet and apparel. Be visible when on the road, use headlights at night, keep enough space for lane splitting and passing and be prepared to act in time to prevent an accident.
