Coroner Identifies Jose Leyva as the Fatal Victim of a Traffic Accident in San Jose

Updated car accident reports released on Thursday, September 17th, disclosed that the Santa Clara Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man killed in a traffic accident in San Jose, California. The coroner revealed the victim’s name as Jose Perez Leyva, a 21-year-old city resident.

The report showed that the accident took place on Tuesday morning, September 15th. According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened at about 1:17 a.m. on Highway 101 near Tully Road on-ramp.

The highway patrol said that Leyva operated a 2017 Honda Accord northbound on H-101 when he crashed into the rear of a big rig driven by a 40-year-old man from Hollister. The victim was unresponsive by the time first responders arrived, and they pronounced him dead.

The CHP closed down the northbound lanes of the highway until around 3 a.m. The cause of the accident remains unknown, but the investigation is ongoing.

Traffic accidents are not uncommon on California roadways. While it mostly results from the negligent acts of drivers, at other times, influencing circumstances beyond their control can lead to a collision.

Some of the latter include mechanical defects, adverse road conditions, and an underlying medical condition. The latter covers an epileptic attack, diabetes mellitus, and heart attack. Traffic and law enforcement agencies advise people with health issues to drive only when necessary.

Additionally, seek alternative means of transportation, and if an attack comes when driving, try stopping in the slow lane and calling for help. Doing the preceding would help prevent accidents and ultimately save lives.
