The services of auto accident attorneys would be required following a tragic multi-vehicle crash that caused injury to no fewer than fifteen victims near Selma, California. The incident, which claimed the life of one minor, took place on the afternoon of Sunday, May 10.

Officers responded to the incident just after 1:20 pm, in a construction zone on Highway 99, just south of Mountain View Avenue. At least six vehicles took part in the crash, including a fruit truck whose driver reportedly started the multi-vehicle collision.

Investigators gathered that the operator of the semi-tractor-trailer was a 60-year-old man named Deudiel Ramirez, a resident of Dinuba. Ramirez’s vehicle was hauling a trailer load of fruits, through the northbound lanes on the highway. The motorist approached a traffic jam but was unable to stop in time to avoid crashing into the other cars pulled up in front of him.

The big rig smashed into five vehicles before it caught fire. The California Highway Patrol said the collision affected fifteen people. Medics transported ten of the victims to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate to major injuries.

An eleven-year-old girl present in a 2004 Lincoln Navigator driven by Alejandro Sanchez, 17, suffered fatal injuries. Sanchez, and four other passengers in the car, aged 5 to 32, all from Delhi, got hospitalised with minor to moderate injuries.

Other vehicles involved included a 1990 Toyota Pickup driven by Guillermo Sotelo, 29, of Fresno, with three passengers; a 2017 GMC van driven by Jose Cardenas, 61, of Kingsburg, and a 2020 Infiniti QX60, driven by Katina Hulse of Point, with passenger, Lisa Jones. Roberto Morales, 44, of Corcoran, who was driving a Ford pickup emerged unscathed.

Authorities believed Deudiel Ramirez was not under the influence at the time of the crash. He waited at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Victims of traffic collisions can contact auto accident attorneys in due time for counsel and if deemed necessary, and for representation.
