Authorities Identify Donald Nelson as Sacramento Pedestrian Accident Victim

The police in Sacramento, California, on Monday, March 2nd, identified the man who died in a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident. He is an 88-year-old male, Donald Nelson, of Sacramento.

Nelson passed away after a car knocked him down on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 25th. The accident happened at the intersection of Mack Road and Valley Hi Drive.

The California Highway Patrol was called to the scene shortly after the accident. When they arrived, they found the deceased man injured, and transported him to the hospital where he later died.

The driver of the car that hit Nelson remained at the scene and was interviewed by the CHP. Drugs and alcohol do not seem to play a role in the accident, but the CHP has not uncovered what led to the crash.

An investigation is still ongoing, and the authorities will update the public once they have more information. In the meantime, they have asked anyone with a helpful account of the crash to contact the CHP Sacramento office.

When an accident happens, even though the driver was not impaired, his or her conduct afterward would determine if there will be a criminal charge. California traffic law clearly states how a person involved in an accident should behave.

The person is to keep calm and park a safe distance away from the accident spot. Whether there are injuries, deaths, or damage to properties, the person should access the harm caused and called the police immediately.

If there’s only property damage with no injury or death, the person should leave behind his or her contact information if the owner of the property is not around. If there’s an investigation, cooperate fully with the authorities and answer questions truthfully and honestly.
