DUI Motorist, Jason Zurney Detained Following Hit-and-Run Crash in Woodland

The services of a drunk driving attorney would come in handy after a man, allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol crashed his vehicle into two other cars in Woodland, California. The motorist ended up in police custody following the crash, which happened on Tuesday, May 26.

Accident reports provided by the Woodland Police affirmed that the incident kicked off at about 1:17 p.m., in E. Main Street and East Street. An on-duty officer present in the area at the time witnessed the initial crash and followed in pursuit of the driver, leading to his arrest.

Police said the suspect was crossing the intersection of both streets when he encountered two other cars and collided with them. The motorist, later identified as Jason Zurney, 41, of Woodland, took off in his vehicle without stopping to assess the damages.

The officer who witnessed the hit-and-run collision chased after the motorist until he caught up with him near the intersection of Third Street and Lincoln Avenue. The deputy observed signs of impairment and conducted a field sobriety test on the motorist, which confirmed a blood/alcohol level of 0.30.

Meanwhile, the occupants of the other involved cars involved in the initial crash sustained minor injuries. Medical personnel administered first aid to them at the scene. The motorist had no visible injury.

Deputies detained Jason Zurney on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in injury, felony DUI causing injury, failing to yield, and driving without a license. They booked him into the Yolo County Jail.

The victim would need to hire a drunk driving attorney to represent him during the legal proceedings.
