The expertise of a drunk driving attorney would be required after a two-vehicle collision caused by an alleged DUI motorist injured two people. The crash, which took place on Monday, May 11, in East County, California ended in the arrest of the faulted motorist.

Officers responded to the crash shortly after 7:30 a.m., on reports of a traffic collision on Interstate 8 Freeway, near Golden Acorn Casino. The collision involved two vehicles, one of which was a Subaru WRX driven by the suspect.

Investigators determined that the driver, Justin Strawder, 21, was driving his vehicle through the west traffic lanes on I-8 Freeway on Boulevard. The young man was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when his Subaru approached the Golden Acorn Casino. Unable to control his speed, the car crashed into the rear of a big rig on its path.

The impact of the collision forced the Subaru onto the east lanes of travel, where it finally came to rest. An 18-year-old female passenger was riding alongside Strawder at the time of the encounter. She suffered severe injuries in the crash, and first responders transported her to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where she remains under treatment.

Strawder sustained minor injuries which medics tended to. Detectives observed signs of impairment in the driver. They took him into custody after treatment and booked him into the county jail for driving under the influence.

Driving while intoxicated is a major traffic offence in California, and attracts between six months and several years imprisonment depending on the severity of damage caused. Motorists charged with related offences can contact a drunk driving attorney for representation.
