On Tuesday, March 10th, the authorities in Los Angeles, California, released information on the accident that tragically ended the life of a man. Eric Harutnian, 29, died in a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Harutnian died from the severity of the wounds he sustained when a car knocked him down. On the unfortunate day, the deceased was trying to cross the intersection at Branford Street, east of Haddon Avenue.

After getting hit, he was left on the roadway in his injuries, which is where paramedics found him when they arrived. An ambulance took Harutnian to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.

The LAPD is heading the investigation into the accident, but have not stated if it’s a case of a hit-and-run. Also, they have not said if they have found and identified the driver and the vehicle that struck the deceased.

Vehicle-versus-pedestrian accidents always leave the pedestrian with either severe injuries or dead. There are three phases when a car hits a human being, and they are the initial impact, the trajectory, and the ground contact.

At the initial impact, the car’s bumper hits the leg or knee joint, the thigh connects to the hood, and the body contours to the front of the vehicle, and is carried. The trajectory throws the lower body forward and the upper body relative to the car.

The head of the pedestrian then hits the hood or windshield, before the person separates from the car. The ground contact is when a pedestrian falls to the ground and sustains injuries ranging from head trauma to body and torso injuries.
