Fatal Fresno Pedestrian Accident Victim Revealed as Joe Mendiola

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office, Fresno, California, on Wednesday, March 4th, revealed the identity of the man who died in a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident. He is 67-year-old Joe Mendiola.

The deceased passed away after a vehicle hit him on the night of Monday, March 2nd. The accident occurred at about 7 p.m. in the area of West Avenue and Shield Avenue.

According to the local police, Mendiola walked into the road for reasons they are yet to uncover. He was knocked down by a car driven by a woman, who was in the company of two children.

The first responders took the deceased to the Community Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The woman stayed behind at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the authorities.

There was no evidence of the driver’s impairment, and the woman has not been cited for negligence. However, the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and witnesses can give their statements to the police at the station.

The issue of liability arises in an accident when the driver of the vehicle acted negligently in any way. Negligent behavior varies depending on the circumstances of the case, and during the trial, the courts look at each case on its merit.

In a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident, when there’s a death, the family or representative of the deceased can sue the driver if he or she acted negligently. They can bring a wrongful death claim, and ask the court to make restitution based on the degree of loss suffered.

The latter often covers medical bills, loss of income if the deceased was the breadwinner, and lack of consortium. The victim’s family can also get compensated for emotional and psychological trauma.
