Authorities ID Frank Torres as Motorist Killed in Jurupa Valley Solo-Vehicle Crash

Frank Torres

The motorist who was killed over the weekend after his vehicle overturned and ventured into a ditch in Jurupa Valley, California, has been identified. Accident reports released by the California Highway Patrol, on Monday, April 27, named the fatal victim as Frank Torres, 43, of Perris.

The incident took place in the evening on Sunday, April 26. Officers were dispatched to the location shortly after 4:40 pm, following reports of a tragic accident on the Pomona (60) Freeway, near Hall Avenue.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle involved was plying the west travel lanes on 60 Freeway. For reasons yet to be determined, the driver let his car leave the freeway, crossed the right shoulder of the road and went off the edge.

The Sedan reportedly flipped over and came to rest in a culvert at the bottom of a steep embankment. The victim remained pinned inside his wrecked car until he was extricated by Riverside County Fire department personnel.

Paramedics pronounced Frank Torres dead at the scene. He was reportedly the only occupant of the car at the time of the traffic wreck. The accident reports did not indicate whether drugs or alcohol were suspected as possible factors that may have led to Torres’ death.

The accident is still under investigation by the Riverside County authorities. Investigators would try to determine whether drugs, alcohol, speeding, distracted driving, or a prospective road hazard could have caused the accident.
