Frankie Avalos Faces Charges for Crashing into a Sheriff’s Deputy in Saticoy

Twenty-eight-year-old Frankie Avalos of El Rio would need the assistance of a car accident attorney after the Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies took him into custody. Avalos was arrested for allegedly ramming his car into a patrol vehicle in Saticoy, California, on Tuesday, August 18th.

The Oxnard area man is facing an attempted murder charge for the early morning accident. The sheriff’s office said that the attack on the patrol car with a deputy inside was unprovoked. The impact of Avalos’ white SUV striking the police car on Route 118 near County Drive caused it to overturn.

The 2:15 a.m. occurrence left the deputy injured, but he was able to radio a description of the suspect’s vehicle and the direction it went. Other deputies pursued the driver, and he crashed the SUV in the west end of Santa Paula. The lawmen then placed him under arrest.

The police said that they removed the victim from the patrol car, and medics took him to Ventura County Medical Center for a checkup, and as a precautionary measure. Medical personnel treated him for minor injuries and released him.

The sheriff’s office said that Avalos is also facing charges of assault of a peace officer and leaving the scene of an accident. They remanded him into the Ventura County Jail and set his bail bond at $1,005,000. There is no additional information, and the investigators will release an update as events unfold.
