Alexander Rivera Fatally Injured in Fresno Solo-Vehicle Crash

A fatal traffic collision that occurred in northeast Fresno, California, left at least three casualties in its wake, including a fatally injured victim. Accident reports obtained from the California Highway Patrol confirmed that the crash took place on Tuesday morning, May 5.

According to the reports, the crash happened at about 2 a.m. on Highway 41, north of Shaw Avenue, and involved a single-vehicle. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 2005 Nissan Maxima was traveling through the southbound lanes on US 41 when its driver lost control.

As a result, the car flipped over on the right side of the highway and skidded up an embankment, ejecting the motorist in the process.

Police said the driver, identified as 21-year-old Alexander Rivera, of Fresno, remained trapped under the overturned vehicle until the emergency crew arrived. Emergency responders pronounced Rivera dead at the scene after extricating him from the wreckage.

Three other occupants, who were traveling alongside the fatal victim when the crash happened, suffered minor injuries. Investigators determined that the three teenagers, all eighteen, were intoxicated at the time.

Officers believe that the deceased was also under the influence while behind the wheels. Toxicology reports would confirm his alcohol levels. Meanwhile, medics transported the injured parties to Community Regional Medical Center.

No other information was released in the accident reports. The fatal crash remains under investigation. Commuters are advised to desist from driving while under the influence of alcohol or other substances that may lead to impairment.
