Gary Banks Killed in Fresno County Vehicle-Pedestrian Hit-and-Run

Gary Banks

Fresno County authorities are investigating the death of a pedestrian who met his end after a passing vehicle struck him in Kingsburg, California. In the reports of the car accident recorded by the Kingsburg Police Department on Monday, May 11, police confirmed that the incident was a case of a hit-and-run.

Officers responded to the scene of the crash just after midnight, on reports of a vehicle-pedestrian accident that left a man unconscious on the roadway. The crash happened near the area of Clarkson and 12th Avenue, police said.

The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner’s Office disclosed the victim’s name as Gary Banks, a 30-year-old resident of Kingsburg.

Investigators gathered that a motorist struck Banks and fled the scene without waiting to render assistance or inform law enforcement. Responding officers found the struck pedestrian sprawled on the roadway, and medics confirmed him deceased shortly after their arrival.

Deputies were unable to get an accurate description of the hit-and-run driver or his vehicle. However, they believe the car that struck Gary Banks sustained a significant front-end damage in the impact. The Kingsburg Police Department remains on the lookout for a vehicle with evidence of a crash in a bid to detain the traffic offender.

Authorities urged possible witnesses with helpful information that could assist in bringing the hit-and-run driver to book to contact the Kingsburg police. Commuters should strive to report car accidents as soon as they occur whether or not they result in a fatality.
