The grandmother and her grandchild killed in a multiple-vehicle collision in Perris, California, have been identified as Feliciana Martines, 75, and Dannalee Evans, 8. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office made the identification public on Wednesday, July 22nd.
The crash occurred on Monday, July 20th, at about 10 p.m. at the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Ramona Expressway. The car accident report showed that the events leading to the occurrence began with a Dodge Durango. Martines and Evans traveled in the vehicle and it was heading west on Ramona.
At the same time, a Mercedes-Benz was southbound on Perris. The Riverside Sheriff’s Department said that the driver of the second vehicle ran a red light and struck the Dodge at the intersection. The impact caused the car to hit a Honda Accord waiting to turn onto Perris.
The crash left Martines and Evans with fatal wounds, and paramedics with the Cal-Fire Riverside County Fire Department pronounced them dead at the scene. The Dodge driver, the child’s mother, and another minor in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. The operator of the Honda and the Mercedes also sustained injuries.
The medics conveyed the four victims to the hospital for treatment, and the sheriff’s department has not disclosed their names and current condition. The investigators believe that alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the collision, but they have not confirmed it.
The investigation into the occurrence is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information should contact the RCSD Perris station on the listed line.
