Henry Duffy Turns Himself in for San Bernardino Hit-and-Run Accident

A hit-and-run driver turned himself in after fleeing the scene of an accident in San Bernardino, California, on Thursday, July 16th. The San Bernardino Police Department revealed the name of the man in the car accident report as Henry Duffy, a 29-year-old resident of Adelanto.

The police said that the crash occurred early Thursday morning, and the events leading to it began with the suspect. Duffy was eastbound in a Chevy Malibu on Base Line Street near the 215 Freeway at about 12:53 a.m. At the same time, a Honda Civic and a Chevrolet Silverado were traveling east on the same roadway.

Officers said that Civic and the Silverado were trying to make a left turn onto the freeway on-ramp at a stoplight when Duffy ran a red light and crashed into them. The impact caused the suspect’s car to collide with two other vehicles.

The driver of the Civic sustained severe wounds and died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. Two occupants of the Silverado suffered different degrees of injuries, and the medics took them to a hospital. The police have not released the name of the deceased or injured victims.

Duffy left the scene on foot but surrendered to the police hours later. They placed him under arrest on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. The investigators believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident, but have not confirmed it. The investigation remains active, and witnesses can contact the SBPD on the listed line.
