An accident on Highway 101, Cloverdale, California, took the life of a man and left another injured. The deceased man got identified as Guillermo Garcia, 32.
Garcia was a passenger in the car involved in the accident. Authorities stated that a blue Toyota Corolla veered off the north lane of State Route 101, just north of Asti Road.
Emergency services got a call a little after 6 a.m. and arrived at the crash site to find the car 150 feet away from the road. The deceased was trapped in the wrecked vehicle, and by the time he was brought out, he was unresponsive.
The medics at the scene pronounced Guillermo dead at the scene. The driver, a man, identified as Jose Torres, 25, was able to extricate himself from the car and sustained minor injuries.
An ambulance transferred the injured man to the Healdsburg General Hospital, where he got treated for his injuries. Investigators are trying to find out what led to the accident, but so far, they have not uncovered the reason.
The police have also not stated whether or not alcohol or drugs or both played a role in the accident. Accidents claim lives every day in California, and drivers should always exercise due care when on the road.
