Highway 79 Single-Vehicle Crash Leaves Ramirez Sánchez Injured

Ramirez Sánchez

A typical workday for tow truck driver, Ramírez Sánchez, 49, turned almost fatal when a car knocked him down on Sunday, February 23rd. The accident occurred on Highway 79, Beaumont, California.

On Sunday morning, Sánchez responded to a call to get a vehicle involved in a rollover accident off the south lane of the highway. According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the tow truck operator at about 10:38 a.m. alighted his vehicle to recover the wrecked car.

At about that time, a white Toyota Corolla, driven by Marcella Carranza, 29, going beyond the legal speed limit swerved to the right, going straight into the concrete median. The car crossed the lanes to the right and ended up on the right shoulder.

The Toyota hit Sánchez and the right side of his truck, south of California Avenue. The force of the crash left the man with severe trauma, and paramedics took him upon their arrival to Riverside University Health System Medical Center.

At the time of this report, Sánchez’s condition remains unknown, but he is still alive. Carranza was unhurt by the wreck she made, and CHP has not stated if she got cited or arrested.

The lanes heading south got shut down for about two hours after the accident. The CHP and other local authorities are still investigating and will provide updates once they have them.

California laws give Sánchez the right to bring a personal injury lawsuit against Carranza for the injury done to his person. He would get damages to cover his medical bills, loss of income, and physical and emotional pain.
