Hit-and-Run Driver, Omar Diaz-Uribe, Arrested Following Auto-Motorcycle Accident in San Rafael

The man involved in a hit-and-run accident in San Rafael, California, was taken into custody on Wednesday, September 16th, by officers with the San Rafael Police Department. Omar Alexander Diaz-Uribe would need to hire auto accident attorneys.

The police said that the man was involved in an auto-motorcycle accident on Saturday, September 12th. Diaz-Uribe allegedly operated a white Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck that made a right turn from a middle lane on Second Street at Hetherton Street in front of a motorcycle to his right that was going straight.

The investigators said that the right front corner of the suspect vehicle collided with the motorcycle’s left side. The impact ejected the bike’s rider, and the two-wheeled drive collided with a steel safety barrier at the southeast corner of the intersection.

The driver fled the scene, and the motorcyclist sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers with the SRPD Major Accident Investigation Team used witness descriptions and video surveillance cameras to track Diaz-Uribe’s truck’s movement from before and after the accident.

The police recovered a partial license plate from a traffic stop carried out on the truck by an officer. Additional video footage helped confirm that the license belonged to the suspect. Officers contacted the man, and he admitted he was involved in the accident.

They placed Diaz-Uribe under arrest and booked him into the Marin County Jail for felony injury hit-and-run, being an unlicensed driver, no insurance, and making an improper turn at an intersection. There is no additional information.
