The motorcyclist, who got injured in a near-fatal crash in Maricopa, California, has been identified by the authorities. On Tuesday, March 24th, the police released the victim’s identity as Dylan Orsburn, 24.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the young man sustained severe injuries after crashing his motorcycle on the night of Saturday, March 21st. The crash happened on Highway 33, north of Kerto Road, at about 8:18 p.m.
Orsburn was heading south on the highway when for unknown reasons he crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on with an oncoming Dodge Ram pickup truck. The young man was ejected from his bike, and he landed on the roadway.
Orsburn was airlifted to Kern Medical Center for treatment, and his current condition is unknown at the time of this report. The driver of the truck, identified as 74-year-old, William Blize, was unscathed.
There is no additional information about the accident and the CHP is still investigating.
Yellow lines on the highway separate two lanes of traffic moving in opposite directions. Two solid yellow lines mean that a driver cannot cross the car in front of him by crossing into oncoming traffic.
Double yellow lines also indicate that passing is not allowed from either side of the road. The only time motorists are permitted to pass other vehicles is where there is a dashed yellow line.
Traffic officials have advised road users to maintain the lane they are driving on, and ensure they are operating at the legal speed limit.
