Jade Unger Arrested for Elder Abuse and Assault in Sausalito

The police arrested a Richardson Bay woman on Saturday evening, September 5th, for assaulting an older and younger male in Sausalito, California. 33-year-old Jade Unger allegedly assaulted one of the victims with a pepper spray and the other with a steering wheel locking device.

The Sausalito Police reported the incident occured at a storage locker on Gate 5 Road. Lt. William Fraass said the suspect was arguing with the younger man — her boyfriend — and poured juice and shaving cream on him. She then proceeded to shoot him in the eyes with the pepper spray.

Next, Unger assaulted the older man by throwing the wheel lock at him and hitting him on the back of his left leg. Medics took the 73-year-old male to MarinHealth Medical Center for surgery on a heavily bleeding wound.

Officers took the woman into custody and booked her into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily harm and elder abuse. The SPD also plans to ask the District Attorney’s office to charge Unger with domestic battery and unlawful pepper spray use.

Fraass said that the suspect could also face possession of drug paraphernalia and violating probation. The probation comes from a previous conviction for trespassing and resisting arrest. There is no additional information.

Elder abuse under California law can be both criminal and civil. It is the former when a person willfully causes a more senior individual to suffer or inflicts unjustifiable mental or physical pain. It is civil when there are physical abuse and neglect, financial abuse, abandonment, isolation, or abduction.
