Jordan Ware Arrested Over Sacramento Hit-and-Run That Killed Charles Holley

The police in Sacramento, California, took 22-year-old Jordan Ware into custody for a fatal hit-and-run accident in the city that killed Charles Holley, 51, of Citrus Heights. The Sacramento Police Department announced the arrest on Wednesday, August 19th, and the man would need representation from a car injury lawyer.

The SPD said that on Thursday, August 13th, just before noon, the Ware’s pickup truck ran a red light and struck the pedestrian at the intersection of 4th and I streets. Holley sustained fatal injuries, and Ware ran from the scene before first responders arrived.

The police said that surveillance footage of the area captured the pickup truck on video, which helped detectives identify Ware as the driver involved. He is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. The SPD remanded him at the Sacramento County Jail.

Under the California Vehicle Code, it is a criminal offense to leave the scene of an accident without reporting it or staying back to render help if there’s an injury. The law clearly states that after a collision, whether involving people or property, the driver or drivers involved must stop at the crash site or the nearest place where traffic won’t get impeded.

Disobeying the law makes the person liable for a hit-and-run charge, and if there’s a death, he or she would also face a vehicular manslaughter charge. The latter means that the driver operated a motor vehicle, struck another car or individual and killed a person.
