The Vallejo man who was killed in Oakland, California, on Tuesday after surviving a two-vehicle crash and getting struck by a third motorist, has been identified. The California Highway Patrol released the new accident reports on Friday, April 3, identifying the fatal victim as 64-year-old Kenneth B. Allen.
The incident took place on Tuesday, March 31, on the westbound Interstate 580. Responding officers gathered that the Vallejo resident was traveling through the state route, just east of Berkeley Curve, when he collided with another vehicle.
The two motorists survived the minor crash unscathed. Just as the driver exited his vehicle to access the damages, a third car, traveling west on I-580, critically struck him.
The operator of the third car fled the scene immediately, without stopping to render assistance. Emergency responders declared Kenneth Allen dead at the scene.
The driver involved in the initial crash, whose identity was withheld, waited at the scene, and cooperated with law enforcement. The motorist was not charged with any traffic-related offense.
Meanwhile, the unidentified hit-and-run driver remains at large, with the CHP on his trail. His vehicle was described in the accident reports, as a Ford F-150 or Van, with a dark-green color.
Neither drug nor alcohol was suspected in the highway accident; however, investigations are still ongoing.
The CHP implored anyone with a possible lead on the hit-and-run driver or the missing vehicle to contact the Oakland Office.
