One of the car accident reports released by the California Highway Patrol on Thursday, July 16th, disclosed that a woman lost her life in a solo crash on State Route 178 in the Kern County area of California. She was identified as Kori Marie Kolstad, 46.
The report showed that the incident took place around 3 p.m., precisely east of Paul’s Place. Kolstad drove a Ford eastbound of SR-178 when she lost control of it for unknown reasons. She traveled to the south shoulder of the roadway before entering the north shoulder, where the vehicle overturned.
The impact left the victim with extensive injuries, and medics transported her to Kern Medical, where she succumbed to her wounds. The Kern County Coroner’s Office said that Kolstad passed away at 4:39 p.m. The CHP is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident, and they have not released additional information at this time.
No one can adequately prepare for a traffic collision; thus, people react differently after an accident. While some remain at the scene to help injured people and make a report to the appropriate authority, others for fear of ensuing consequences run away.
California Vehicle Code contains a body of rules of what a person should do when driving and after an accident occurs. It also includes the punishment a person would face for breaking such laws, and drivers should follow the provisions to avoid legal consequences.
