After the end of business hours on Thursday in Palm Desert, California, a man was killed when a Chevrolet Suburban struck him. The fatal accident victim has been identified as Kurt Scheel, a 52-year-old resident of Rancho Mirage.
The deceased pedestrian was walking along the intersection of Dinah Shore Drive and Miriam Way when he was knocked down by the vehicle, and he died on the spot.
Scheel was walking inside a crosswalk when he was hit by the suburban. According to the authorities, the deadly accident occurred at around 5:58 p.m. on February 27.
The police also have the man that was behind the wheels of the Suburban when the accident happened. The driver is a 34-year-old Palm Desert resident, who stayed behind after the fatal incident and cooperated with the investigators.
The police also confirmed that the accident was not induced by alcohol or drugs. No formal charges have been made as the accident remains under investigation.
