The Coroner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol revealed the man’s identity, although his city of residence remains unknown. The accident occurred on Tuesday, May 5, with Dever injured at about 2:10 a.m., before dying from his wounds at the scene of the crash.
The motorist that hit the deceased, a 42-year-old man from Bells Gardens, remained at the scene of the accident and answered questions that officers asked him. He also narrated to the officers how the crash occurred.
According to the man, he was driving south on the No. 2 lane at about 55 mph when his vehicle hit the pedestrian. The CHP reported that there is no suspicion of alcohol being a cause of the collision.
