The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday, June 23rd, released the name of the teenager who died in a police chase crash into the Harvard Park area of Los Angeles, California. The updated accident report named Armani Brown, 18, as the victim.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a carjacking around 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 21st, in the area of Congress Avenue and 25th Street, began the chain of events that led to the accident. The car’s description was sent out to officers, and a patrol car sighted the vehicle about 20 minutes later at Western and Vernon Avenues.

The patrol vehicle started chasing the car as it entered the southbound lane of Normandie Avenue. The carjacked vehicle collided with a car making a left turn at 60th Street, and the two went on to strike a parked automobile.

The police said that Brown was a passenger in the stolen vehicle, and she died from her injuries at the crash site. The car’s male driver, who remains unidentified, sustained severe injuries, and the medics conveyed him to an undisclosed hospital in serious condition.

The two men in the car struck by the carjacked vehicle were also hospitalized but in stable condition. There is currently no additional information at this time.

Motor vehicle accidents are easily avoidable when drivers put safety first. When stopped by the police, drivers should comply to avoid a high-speed chase, and prevent a fatal crash.
