The police in the city of Los Angeles, California, on Friday, March 13th, released the details of the accident that claimed the life of Yueshan Jin. The 58-year-old man tragically died from injuries sustained after a car knocked him down.

The vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident that sent Jin to the afterlife occurred on Monday, March 2nd. The police stated that at about 9:55 a.m. on that day, the deceased was struck by a driver as he attempted to cross the intersection of Western Avenue and 4th Street.

Medics found Jin on the roadway when they arrived and took him to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The police did not release any information on whether or not the driver stayed back at the scene or fled.

The accident remains under investigation, and anyone with helpful information should contact the Los Angeles Police Department. Pedestrian death resulting from a getting hit by a car is not uncommon in California or the United States.

Pedestrian fatality in the US has increased by 41 percent since 2008, and it accounts for 16 percent of all traffic fatalities. The high death rate is as a result of the severity of the injury a person sustains from the moment a vehicle comes in contact with the human body until he or she hits the ground.

Some common injuries a pedestrian sustains are skull fractures, concussions, hemorrhages, and intracranial swellings. Others are hip and pelvis fractures, abrasions, torn knee ligaments, damage and rupture of organs.
