A man suspected of striking LAPD patrol vehicles Friday afternoon has now been captured, reported officials. The suspect hit the patrol vehicle twice – both times intentionally, in efforts to evade capture.
Prior to the collisions that took place, the suspect had stolen the truck in which he was currently traveling. Police said the man stole the truck at around 1 pm, prompting a chase by the deputy in his patrol vehicle. At some point during the chase, which developed in East Los Angeles, the suspect stopped abruptly, an attempt at creating a collision. After this initial attempt failed the suspect then continued by backing into the police car, twice. The deputy exited his car at this point, firing at the suspect’s vehicle.
The suspect fled, taking 710 freeway in Los Angeles. The man was only caught when his vehicle crashed into tracks of the Blue Line in Los Angeles later in the afternoon.
