Shirley Lewis Identified as Victim of Los Angeles Two-Vehicle Crash

A deadly accident that occurred in Los, Angeles, California, killed a woman. 82-year-old Shirley Lewis was identified by the Los Angeles Police on Friday, March 13th, as the woman who died.

The police report showed that the deceased was riding one of the crashed vehicles on Friday, March 6th, when she collided with another at about 7:10 p.m. The collision happened precisely near La Brea Avenue and Ferndale Street.

Lewis sustained severe injuries, and she was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Aside from the deceased, the police found a victim whom they identified only as a 91-year-old male.

They have not uncovered if the man was the driver of the other vehicle or a passenger in one of the cars involved in the crash. The investigation is still active, and the police are looking for any other vehicle that might have been involved in the accident.

Statistics have shown that older drivers are prone to accidents despite most people being fit to drive well into their 80s. Older people should, therefore, exercise utmost caution while on the road to prevent crashes.

Some safety tips for older drivers include driving with a seatbelt on at all times. If the seatbelt is uncomfortable, adjust the shoulder mount or buy a shoulder pad that slips over the belt.

Avoid drinking, texting, and driving, and keep out every form of distraction. Maintain a singular focus on the road, do not drive in adverse weather, limit going behind the wheel at night, and choose safer routes.
