The victim of a ghastly accident which occurred in Tehachapi, California, last week was identified on March 9 by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
It was reported that the tragic incident took place at the intersection of East Tehachapi Boulevard and Noria Drive on Wednesday night after a semi-truck collided with a motorcycle.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the fatal crash at about 9:47 pm on March 4. According to the CHP, the victim was struck by a semi-truck while riding his motorcycle along the eastbound traffic lane.
The semi was reportedly attempting a U-turn to join the Tehachapi Boulevard road when it collided with the motorcycle. The impact of the two-vehicle collision knocked the motorcycle operator to the ground, causing him multiple injuries.
Paramedics accompanying the state’s highway patrol arrived at the scene shortly after and rushed the severely injured man to the Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley, Lancaster, where he succumbed to his wounds.
Authorities disclosed the victim’s identity as 36-year-old David Dallas. An autopsy to determine the motorcycle rider’s cause of death was ordered by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as part of the investigative proceedings.
No information was released by the police regarding the semi-truck or its driver. The cause of the fatal crash, as well as the manner of death of David Dallas, remains under investigation by the Tehachapi Police Department.
Motorists are advised to be patient enough when making U-turns, and be sure that there is no oncoming vehicle.
