Man Who Died After Vehicle Slammed into a Tree in San Jose Identified as Frank Co

New accident reports released by the San Jose Police department confirmed the identity of a man who died last month after his vehicle slammed into a tree and went ablaze in San Jose, California. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Coroner’s Office identified the fatal victim as 33-year-old Frank Co of San Jose on Monday, April 20.

The tragic wreck took place on Friday, March 27, in the area of Ruby Avenue and Astrahan Lane. According to the San Jose Police, officers were dispatched to the location just after 8:10 pm after the crash was called in by witnesses.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a white 2019 Lexus driven by the victim was traveling through the north traffic lanes on Ruby at a high rate of speed.

The motorist suddenly let the vehicle drift to the side of the roadway, where it collided with a tree and caught fire immediately. The operator of the Lexus sustained critical injuries in the tragic collision.

Fire Department personnel rescued the two occupants from the burning vehicle. Medics accompanying the firefighters pronounced Co dead at the scene.

The sole passenger in the vehicle, a 35-year-old man whose name was not disclosed, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The accident reports did not list impairment as a contributing factor in the crash. The case, however, is still being investigated by the San Jose Police.
