A woman was pronounced dead and at least one other person was injured on Monday morning, May 4th, after a moving truck rear-ended her vehicle in the Corona area of California. The name of the woman who died in the accident was not released, but the injured person was identified as Marcus Reeves. The incident calls for the legal intervention of a car accident lawyer.
The crash was reported at about 2:40 a.m. on Highway 91, just west of Smith Avenue. Reports from the California Highway Patrol confirmed that the fatal victim was traveling in one of the two vehicles involved in the accident.
The victim’s 2020 Toyota Camry was traveling through the westbound lanes of H-91 when it took to the slow lane and suddenly halted midway for unknown reasons. Another vehicle, a Hino box truck reportedly driving at 55 mph, came along moments later, taking to the path of the Camry.
Before the truck could stop, it collided with the disabled vehicle from behind, causing severe damages. Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after and rescued the two occupants of the smaller vehicle from the wreck.
One of them, Marcus Reeves, 27, of Victorville, who was a passenger in the Camry, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center for treatment. The driver, whose name was withheld pending notification of her next of kin, was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital, where she passed away.
The truck driver, who was unharmed in the collision, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police. The traffic collision remains under investigation.
A car accident lawyer can help victims of car crashes or their families secure maximum compensation for their losses.
